A Look Into A Few Lamborghini Track Cars
You cannot live with glory if there is competition, and that's what Lamborghini proved to Ferrari. The race to bring the fastest Italian cars either on the road or track is influenced by these two sports car makers. Starting with the Lamborghini Countach, the Lambo won the market and bought some of the fastest-production cars in the world. Some of the limited edition Lamborghinis made their way onto the track, and that's where we are going to talk about them. We have created a list of some famous Lamborghini track cars.

Ferruccio Lamborghini set out to make better vehicles than Ferrari in 1963 and established Lamborghini. The brand started by making grand tourers such as the 350GT and the 400GT, but it set a new trend by making the first-ever supercar in 1966, the Miura. The Miura came to the Countach, followed by the Diablo, and the rest is history as we know it today.

Unlike other competitors such as Ferrari and Porsche, Lamborghini initially did not want to enter motorsports due to the huge requirements of company resources. However, it did start to supply V12 engines for F1 cars back in 1989. At present, the brand has its own racing events, which are Lamborghini Super Trofeo and Lamborghini GT3. In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the track cars from Lamborghini.

What is the best Lamborghini track car?

The best Lamborghini track is the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12. The car delivers the purest track-driving experience. The rare Lamborghini is powered by the most powerful V12 engine made by the automaker.

What is the fastest Lamborghini track car?

The fastest Lamborghini track car is the 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante. It does a quarter-mile run in 10.2 seconds while running at 138 mph.

Is there a Lamborghini racing team?

Yes! Squadra Corsa is the name of Lamborghini’s motorsport department.

8. Lamborghini Diablo GT1 Stradale

The Lamborghini GT1 Stradale is a limited-production and super-rare track-worthy version of the legendary Diablo. The rarity of this vehicle is due to the fact that only two examples were ever created before the entire project was grounded.

While the car looks quite identical to the production version of the Diablo, it was extensively reworked to be more track-worthy than the regular Diablo. While the carbon-fiber bodywork makes it lighter and more agile, it is still road-legal and has the same heart as the regular Diablo.

Priced at $1 million, only two such examples were ever built.

The motor of the GT1 Stradale is the well-known 6.0-liter naturally aspirated Lamborghini V12 that puts out a whopping 655 hp, but the torque figure remains undisclosed.

The motor is paired with a 6-speed sequential gearbox that drives the rear wheels of the car. On a straight line, the car can do the 0–60 mph sprint in under 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 214 mph, giving some modern sports cars a run for their money.

7. Lamborghini Diablo SV-R

Lamborghini built only 31 units of the Diablo SV-R for the track back in 1996, making it a rare find on the roads. This car was tweaked in terms of design to offer maximum trackworthiness. The changes were essentially removing all the parts that were not necessary for a track car. To start with, Lambo removed the headlamp units and fitted two air intakes in their palace to draw in more air and cool the front brakes.

On the inside, the car has Sparco racing seats, a roll cage, and a detachable steering wheel. Other upgrades include upgraded and bigger Brembo brakes at the front, a deep front spoiler, and a big carbon-fiber rear wing that is fully adjustable as well. In an auction, a 1996 Diablo SV-R sold for $121,000.

The motor got mated to a performance-specced 5-speed manual gearbox that allowed the car to rocket down the tarmac with a 0-60 mph sprint time of 3.7 seconds. The top speed of the car is around 205 mph.

6. Lamborghini Diablo GTR

The Lamborghini Diablo GTR is also a limited production track car built by the brand itself, and only 80 units of this car were ever sold. To enhance performance and handling.

The car came with extensive upgrades, such as the removal of plenty of interior materials and the addition of a roll cage, carbon-fiber interior panels, and a racing seat. On the outside, the luggage compartment at the front got a bigger air extractor, and NACA-style ducts were put in place of the small corner vents on the front fenders.

The motor is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox like regular Diablos but has different gear ratios. Going flat out, the car can hit 60 mph from a standstill in under 3.5 seconds and hit a top speed of 210 mph.

5. Lamborghini Murciélago R-GT

The Lamborghini R-GT is another track car developed by the brand itself, but in collaboration with Reiter Engineering from Germany. While the details about the interior modifications of the car remain undisclosed, we expect it to have all the track essentials, such as a roll cage, racing seat, racing steering wheel, and a stripped-down interior to reduce weight.

With this car, Lamborghini won the FIA GT Championship held in 2003 with Christophe Bouchut and Stefan Mücke behind the wheel of the car. With today’s rate of exchange, this Lambo Murcielago R-GT price ranges between $770,000 and $880,000.

The motor is mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox from Hollinger with a carbon clutch. The 0-60 mph sprint time remains similar to the previously mentioned one, at 3.5 seconds, and the top speed is capped at 210 mph.

4. Lamborghini Sesto Elemento

Back in 2012, Lamborghini did one crazy job and created the Sesto Elemento. The car got its name after carbon, which is placed in the 6th position on the periodic table, hence the name Sesto Elemento.

The whole construction of the car is made out of carbon fiber, making it incredibly light with a curb weight of only 2,200 lbs. On the outside, the car gets slightly glossy paintwork over the carbon fiber body panels, and on the inside, there is practically an overdose of carbon fiber. With a planned production of 20 cars, the Sesto Elemento only saw 10 units ever produced, making it a super-rare one.

3. Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2

The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 is another track-only race car from the Italian marque and looks a bit saner than its other track-only siblings. On the outside, other than the sponsorship stickers, you’ll see that huge rear wing, front splitter, side skirts, and Pirelli P Zero tires on the race-spec wheels.

On the inside, the car gets a racing setup too with the mandatory roll cage upgrade, a complex-designed racing steering wheel, and a digital driver’s instrument cluster. The dashboard gets swapped out with a new race-spec unit as well.

Under the hood, the GT3 EVO2 gets the same 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 in its sportiest form. However, its power output numbers and performance stats remain undisclosed, sadly. It is mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox that drives the rear wheels, and the rear differential has a mechanical diff lock too.

2. Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO

The Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO is damn long. Well, this is the Buracan for those who feel the “regular” Huracan isn’t crazy enough for them out on the tracks. The Super Trofeo EVO is track-only and has a full track-oriented setup inside out.

On the outside, only the headlamp units and body shell design are similar to the Huracan, while the rest screams track day all along. The interior has been stripped to accommodate the roll cage, and the center console gets all the multi-colored switches to operate the plethora of controls. The steering wheel is a full racing unit with paddle shifters and buttons to access multiple controls.

Under the hood, the sonorous 5.2-liter naturally breathing V10 is still present, but in a slightly detuned version. It generates 620 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. However, the reduced curb weight of the Super Trofeo negates the lack of power, and the car is practically quicker around the tracks than the more powerful road car.

On a straight line, the EVO hits 60 mph in under 3 seconds and has a top speed of 174 mph.

1. Lamborghini Essenza SCV12

In terms of modern-age track cars from Lamborghini, the Essenza SCV12 is the ultimate track weapon. One look at it, and you might feel the car has been dropped on Earth through some intergalactic portal since it looks like an alien craft. With maximum aerodynamics at play on the outside, the SV12 draws plenty of inspiration from F1 cars but with V12 goodness.

The SCV12 is a limited production car, with only 40 units ever produced. Being a track-only vehicle, owning the SV12 for roughly $2.5 million will grant you access to drive the car on iconic race tracks across the globe as well.
