The Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 Is A Track-Only Supercar Limited For 40 Customers

If the regular Lamborghini lineup doesn’t excite you much, the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 should fill that void. The Essenza SCV12 is a track-only supercar developed under the Lamborghini Squadra Corse racing division with just 40 units planned. With a reported price of $2.6 Million for 7 units commissioned for the United States, the Essenza SCV12 gains power from a 6.5L naturally aspirated V12 mill borrowed from the Aventador. The engine however has been mounted longitudinally to make space for the new X-trac gearbox.

The Lamborghini comes fitted with a naturally aspirated 6.5L V12 engine that is the same as in Lamborghini’s Aventador SVJ. Talking about the output numbers, it manages to deliver the ruthless power of 819 horses managed by the ram air induction system, which greatly helps by increasing the air intake and hence increasing engine power. Also, the engine orientation is altered from the Aventador SVJ with a complete 180 degree turn. This change has been done to manage the fitting of the gearbox in the rear of the engine only. This all makes the engine the most powerful one to date that is manufactured by the company.

The car is also offered with special exhaust tips which help reduce the back pressure. Also, another change from the Aventador is the use of a new X-trac 6-speed non-synchronous sequential gearbox. This gearbox also becomes a stressed member as this takes up the contact by the rear pushrod suspension. The Essenza SCV12 offers an RWD system, which does the job of pushing it ruthlessly to a top speed of 210 mph.

How is The Lamborghini Essenza SCV12’s Design?

The Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 comes with a lighter body, made of an FIA-approved carbon composite crash structure and a carbon fiber monocoque chassis. This all makes the car to be 300 lbs lighter than the Aventador SVJ. This car is the first one to be built as per FIA prototype safety standards. Furthermore, the track car features aerodynamics inspired by the racing prototypes and was developed for exclusive track use. The aggressive exterior design helps in developing a downforce of almost 2,600 lbs at 155 MPH speed. The downforce development is managed by the front splitter and a larger rear wing.

The hood is designed in such a way that the airflow is directed into the roof-mounted air snorkel which further sends the air to the engine bay, aiding in cooling the engine. Talking of the braking, it is fitted with Brembo disc brakes and with Pirelli racing rubber. The 19-inch at the front and a 20-inch wheels at the rear keep the stance in check.

There is also the use of Huracan-like dual-air inlets and a center split in the front hood, making the airflow to the ram-air roof scoop increase the static air pressure in the intake manifold. This increase in the manifold enhances the engine power. This whole thing is termed aerodynamic supercharging, which is best described as the speed increases the engine power also increases exponentially.
