These Are The Fastest Corvettes Ever Made

The Chevrolet Corvette has been a symbol of American sportscar excellence for over seven decades. From its iconic design to its performance, the Corvette has earned the reputation of being one of the most beloved vehicles of all time.

In this article, we have curated the fastest Corvettes of recent generations. From special editions of the C6 Corvette years (2005–2013) to the latest hybrid model of the C8 generation, the Corvette has only become faster and faster. So without further ado, let's have a look at the fastest Corvettes ever made.

First introduced in 1953, the Chevrolet Corvette was an instant success. The two-seater sports car was powered by a six-cylinder engine and was the first mass-produced American sports car. The Corvette is associated with speed and acceleration, being among the quickest and most powerful cars on the market.

The iconic powertrain of a Corvette has been a V8 engine for a long time now; however, it used to get mounted at the front. The Corvette recently entered its eighth generation, having evolved into a mid-engine layout where the engine sits at the back of your seats. It improved the dynamics of the Corvette by a huge margin.

What's more, the all-new Corvette E-Ray comes with an AWD setup with an electric motor helping on the front axle, making it the first hybrid Corvette in the whole lineup. This is something that a lot of purists hated since RWD was a signature in Corvettes, and it was always about naturally aspirated V8 engines in Corvettes until now.

9. 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6)

Here we start our discussion of the fastest Corvettes ever made, and this is our first Corvette Z06.

The 2012 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 comes in as an honorable mention as it does 0–60 in 3.8 seconds and the quarter-mile in 11.9 seconds and has a top speed of 198 mph, making it fast but slower than its limited production Carbon Edition, which came with weight-saving carbon fiber and the Z07 Performance Package as standard.

Featuring the same large 7.0-liter V8 engine, it made 505 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. When the Corvette Z06 with the optional Z07 Performance Package was taken to the Nurburgring, it set a time of 7 minutes and 22.7 seconds, which was over 4 seconds faster than the C6 Corvette ZR1's 2009 Nurburgring lap record.

In 2012, Corvette came out with a Centennial Edition for the Z06, but it was just an appearance package.

8. 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition (C6)

In 2011, Chevrolet released the Z06 Carbon Edition, which did the 0-60 sprint in 3.7 seconds and the standing quarter-mile in 11.6 seconds and had a top speed of 198 mph.

Powering the Z06 was a 7.0-liter V8 engine, which made 505 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque and was the largest engine ever fitted in a Corvette.

However, the Carbon Edition was a special production of 500 models and included the Z07 performance package (which included performance brakes and tires) along with a raised carbon fiber hood, black carbon fiber splitter, and rockers.

It was engineered for better weight distribution to improve speed and acceleration, and the Carbon Edition's Chief Engineer claimed it was a very well-balanced model and could shave up to 3 seconds over the standard Z06 on a technical racetrack like Laguna Seca.

7. 2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6)

The 2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, the cheapest Corvette on this list, was the last model of the C6 generation and also the fastest, setting a 0–60 time of 3.4 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 11.3 seconds, and a top speed of 205 mph.

Powering the C6 ZR1 is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, which makes 638 hp and 604 lb-ft of torque, which makes it not only the fourth fastest Corvette but also the fourth most powerful Corvette ever released.

To prove its power-fueled performance, in 2009 it set a Nurburgring lap record of 7 minutes and 26.4 seconds, which is currently faster than the 2020 Ferrari 812 Superfast.

However, in 2012, Chevrolet took the C6 Corvette ZR1 back to the Nurburgring equipped with the optional PDE performance package, which included Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires and Performance Traction Management, and it resulted in a Nurburgring time of 7 minutes, 19.63 seconds, making it one of the fastest Corvettes ever.

6. 2018 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C7)

The 2018 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 did the 0-60 sprint in 2.95 seconds (when equipped with the Z07 performance package), had a quarter-mile time of 10.95 seconds, and had the ability to reach a top speed of 196 mph. Released in 2015, the very first of the C7 Corvette years, the C7 Z06 was the fastest production car GM had ever made.

To achieve such numbers, the C7 Z06 was powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine producing 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque.

When paired with an 8-speed automatic, the engine did 0-60 in 2.95 seconds; when equipped with a 7-speed manual, it did it in 3.2 seconds. Also in 2016, it released the C7.R edition, which came standard with the Z07 package with the optional carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes and Michelin PS Cup 2 tires for improved performance. In 2018, it added the Carbon 65 Edition to the 3LZ trim, which came with visual carbon fiber parts on the exterior and interior.

5. 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C8)

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C8) with Z51 Package saw the Corvette change its engine configuration from a front-engine to a mid-engine layout.

This worked out well, as the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is the fastest entry-level Corvette ever, offering a 0–60 time of 2.9 seconds (without the optional Z51 package) and a top speed of 194 mph. However, with the optional Z51 package, the top speed drops to 184 mph.

Powering the mid-engined C8 Corvette is a 6.2-liter V8, which makes 490 hp (495 hp with the Z51 Package) and 470 lb-ft of torque and is paired to an 8-speed DCT; there is no manual transmission for this one, and RWD is standard.

Also, this Corvette comes with dual trunks (front and rear) and also has the very popular race seats with carbon fiber on them. You can opt for a carbon-fiber trim.

4. 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C7)

In terms of top speed, the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is the fastest Corvette ever made, with a 0–60 time of 2.85 seconds when equipped with the optional ZTK package.

It can do the standing quarter-mile in 10.6 seconds while achieving a top speed of over 210 mph. Powering the Corvette ZR1 is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8, making 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque, making this the most powerful production Corvette ever.

The same engine is also found in the C7 Z06, but it gained a new supercharger codenamed "BAS," which stands for "Big Ass Supercharger," and this used 110 hp from the engine to just spin.

The ZR1 is also the most aerodynamic Corvette ever, with a front wing and a rear wing (standard low wing and optional two-way high wing), the latter providing 950 lbs of downforce. This was adapted from the C7.R racecar and helped improve stability for the ZR1 and track times.

3. 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C8)

Here comes another Corvette ZO6 sports car. The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is on the path to being one of the fastest Corvettes ever made.

Powered by a naturally aspirated flat-plane crankshaft 5.5-liter V8 engine (LT5) from the C8.R race car, it makes 670 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, and the engine revs up to 8,600. However, official performance data from Chevrolet about the Z06 has not yet been released.

However, it was leaked onto online forums that the 2023 Corvette Z06 has a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 10.6 seconds, sharing the quarter-mile time with the 2019 Corvette ZR1.

With a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds, this brings the C8 Corvette Z06 on par with the Porsche 911 Turbo S and Taycan Turbo S' 0-60 times, which are some of the fastest 0-60 times available and would become the fastest 0-60 time from a naturally aspirated engined vehicle.

2. 2024 Corvette E-Ray

The 2024 Corvette E-Ray is Chevy's newest addition to the Corvette lineup, and it is the first hybrid AWD Corvette ever made. Some of the purists have showcased anger towards Chevy due to the whole change in the Corvette DNA, but Chevy is here to improve the current Corvette over the last generation.

So basically, an electric motor sits on the front axle and powers the front wheels, and the rear wheels are powered by the V8 engine only. The electric motor produces 160 horses, which makes it super grippy around the track. It is almost $40,000 more expensive than the regular Stingray model.

However, it does undercut the ZO6 mode, which is considered to be the most brutal Corvette yet, by almost $2,000. So the decision is yours, whether you want the fastest Corvette or the most powerful Corvette C8 ZR1 currently available on the market.

The 2024 Corvette E-Ray Hybrid is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine coupled with an electric motor that produces a total of 655 hp and 595 lb-ft of torque. And thanks to the electric motor, it does 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 183 mph.

1. 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

And here is the fastest Corvette ever made: The 2025 Corvette ZR1 will be an all-new model that shares its components with the Z06. However, the car is yet to be released, but the statistics are almost confirmed.

It will rip from 0 to 60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds, which is an exaggerated number, but we cannot underestimate the power and performance of the ZR1 sports car. It will have a top speed of 189 mph (if not, we'll update you soon).

The current-running 2023 Corvette ZO6 has a 5.5-liter V8 engine. We expect that with some additional force induction through a set of turbochargers, it will make more than 800 HP and 750 LB-FT of torque. Similar to the older ZR1, it may also bring the iconic ZO7-style package that will further enhance the driving experience.
