Top 10 Things About The Lykan Hypersport That You Didn’t Know

The Lykan Hypersport is one of those limited-edition hypercars that come in very few numbers and cost millions. But the Lykan was a very special one because of its roots and the efforts put into making it. Lykan only produced seven of these Hypersport models, and all of them are now sold. Here are the top ten things that you need to know about this Asian hypercar!

10. The First Supercar From Middle East

The First Supercar From Middle East

The Middle East has always been known for its oil-rich lands, excessive money, strong religious beliefs, delicious food, and love for sports cars and SUVs. However, there were no car manufacturers until 2012, when W Motors incorporated and limited production for the Lykan Hypersport started.

And soon after that, in February 2013, they stunned the world when the Hypersport was first introduced at the Qatar Motor Show. This supercar was unique; it had suicide doors like Rolls-Royce that’d go up like a Lamborghini’s Scissor doors.

W Motors designed the Lykan Hypersport in the best way possible, with tons of sharp edges that turn out to be a gorgeous shape altogether. The sharp lines give the car an aggressive look, and the front bumper has a distinctive air intake for a cool and sporty appearance.

Some of the most notable features of the design will be the suicide-swan doors and the wide fender on the rear wheels, which make this car both elegant and aggressive at the same time.

08. Too Rare To Be In Your Garage, Even If You Are A Millionaire

As we have mostly seen with new hypercar manufacturers, they don’t make a lot of units of the first product, and it is usually a limited-run car that shows how good of a car they can make if they get good investments. Simple rule for any business, and the W Motors Lykan Hypersport isn’t an exception either.

They made only 7 units of the Lykan Hypersport, each with a base price tag of $3.4 million, which made it one of the three most expensive cars of its time. Also, one is purchased by the Abu Dhabi Police Department, so that leaves any potential buyer to look out for the rest of the six to come on the used car scene.

7. Headlights Or Jewelry

We mentioned earlier that the Lykan Hypersport might be a hypercar, but it is not only about being the fastest of the lot; W Motors also wanted to offer the owner an ultra-rich experience with its instant velocity. But you wouldn’t expect to see several pieces of diamond in your headlamp, would you? Well, that's exactly what you’ll see in the Lykan Hypersport, with its Headlamp unit filled with a 15-carat diamond! And you can also customize your headlamps with other expensive stones like Sapphire, Ruby, Yellow Diamond, or Emerald.

6. How Does A Sharp Interior Design Look In Real Life?

How Does A Sharp Interior Design Look In Real Life?

You’ve heard about sharp exterior designs, right? Sometimes they look cool, and sometimes they feel overdone. However, we believe that making a sharp interior is harder than it seems because it has to be convenient as well as satisfying. The first thing you’ll notice is that the steering wheel looks way sharper than anyone would expect, and it’s wrapped in thick Alcantara leather for the best possible grip.

The seats seem to have an aggressive design, but they are quite comfortable compared to most sports cars. You’ll find the instrument cluster designed like it’s from the heart of a Transformer Autobot, and the same goes for the touchscreens in the central console. There are some smart tech features as well, such as the advanced holographic technology that you can control with gestures without touching any buttons.

5. A Porsche-ish Heart

A Porsche-ish Heart

W Motors wanted the Lykan Hypersport to go toe-to-toe with the most powerful European cars, and they hired RUF Automobile, a well-known German car manufacturer, to build the Lykan Hypersport's engine. RUF is very well known for being a great tuner and making Porsches 10 times better than stock.

They created a 3.7-liter twin-turbocharged flat-6 engine (very Porsche-ish in nature), which produced an insane output of 780 horsepower and 708 lb-ft of torque. For a hypercar, we’d say that it was a really good figure by 2013 standards, as supercars usually ran out of juice at around 750 horses back then. But how does it perform?

The 780 horsepower-rated flat-6 engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission (Porsche again?), a limited-slip differential at the rear, high-performance Pirelli P Zero tires, and MacPherson strut suspension.

With all this equipment and the insanely fast-shifting PDK dual-clutch transmission, the Lykan Hypersport can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and reach a claimed top speed of 245 mph.

3. It Can Fly (In Hollywood Movies)

3. It Can Fly (In Hollywood Movies)

Being such an outrageous car, the Lykan Hypersport was bound to be used in a movie, and for that, what’s better than featuring it in one of the biggest franchises in Hollywood? The car was featured in Fast and Furious 7 and got a well-deserved appearance when it jumped or flew between three skyscrapers, driven by none other than Vin Diesel (obviously he didn’t drive it in real life; he isn’t Tom Cruise).

This scene became an instant hit among the fans due to its utter insanity and also became one of the key reasons why the world now knows the name Lykan Hypersport.

2. UAE Let Their Police Drive In One Of These?

3. It Can Fly (In Hollywood Movies)

It’s hard to believe, but the Police department in Abu Dhabi uses the Lykan Hypersport as a patrol car. So if you are chased by the police, it’s better to stop because you can’t run away. The Abu Dhabi police are known for using sportscars in their lineup of patrol cars, and these might seem like they are meant to take on people overspeeding or breaking the law, but they are mainly for public engagement and not running after lawbreakers.

These supercars include the likes of the Lamborghini Aventador, Nissan GT-R, Chevrolet Camaro, Aston Martin, Bugatti Veyron, etc., but the Lykan Hypersport takes the whole thing to another level.

It has A Twin Brother That Could Be Bought For Less Than Half Of Its Price

At a base price of $3.4 million, the Lykan Hypersport was the third-most expensive car of its time and was only beaten by the Lamborghini Veneno and the Maybach Exelero. However, if you want to save some money and fool people into thinking you’ve got a Lykan, you should get the Fenyr Supersport.

Back in 2015, W Motors announced the Fenyr Supersport, with a more powerful version of the engine in the Lykan Hypersport, and surprisingly, it had a price tag of about $1.4 million, less than half the price of its predecessor. And also, this was limited to 100 units, a much bigger number than the 7 of the Lykan.
