The spicy version of the iconic MINI has finally landed on our shores with a big bump in torque and an OLED screen
Published October 25, 2024
The new MINI John Cooper Works is powered by a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 228 hp and 280 ft-lb of torque up from the last gen’s 235 ft-lb paired to a DCT. It needs just 5.9 seconds for a 60 mph sprint, while the Convertible does it in 6.2 seconds. Flat out, the 2025 Mini JCW will do 155 mph for the Coupe and 3 mph less for a Convertible.
Visually, the models feature red brake calipers, an octagonal front grille, high-gloss black accents, and aggressive air vents for optimal engine cooling. Bonnet stripes are optional but LED lights come standard. The rear boasts an aerodynamic spoiler and a centralized tailpipe.
You can choose from eleven vibrant body colors, with options for contrasting roofs and mirror caps. The Convertible soft top opens in just 18 seconds at speeds up to 18 mph, while a neat wind deflector minimizes air turbulence.
JCW trims are about looking special, and 2025 models are no different. They have sports seats with red accents and a JCW sports steering wheel.
A knitted dashboard pattern pays homage to MINI’s racing heritage, and the Harman Kardon sound system elevates your driving experience. The high-resolution OLED display keeps essential info at your fingertips, and additional features can be controlled via touch or voice commands.
The fancy Go-Kart mode for 2025 displays real-time data like speed, torque, and g-force.
The new MINI Navigation system enhances orientation with 3D visualization and Augmented Reality.
Pricing in the US starts at $38,200 for the MINI John Cooper Works 2 Door, plus $995 for destination and handling, while the Convertible starts at $43,700 with the same handling fee. Production kicks off in November, with both models expected to hit US dealerships in early January 2025.
