The Heart of the matter

The Heart of the matter

Compared to the regular GT500 which produces a maximum power of 760 HP and 625 lb-ft of torque, the code produces a whopping 1,000 HP and 780 lb-ft of torque, that too only with regular fuel, giving it the E85 fuel, and its performance shoots up to 1300 HP straight and 1000 lb-ft of torque straight!

The engine has been given massive upgrades in terms of performance in order to gain those aggressive jaw-dropping figures. For starters, there are many high-performance parts like the intercooled premium twin-turbo system, a new and better fuel system, and most importantly the 5.2L V8 has been reworked by Nelson’s Racing Engines and comes with a dual-feed fuel system that allows different racing fuels to be used when needed and to extract different performance numbers. Impressive!

Suspension

The GT500 comes with a magnetic-ride suspension system, which is nothing but adaptive suspension technology that adjusts your shock absorbers up to 200 times per second and delivers superior ride quality and damping depending on the situation. But the Code Red gets a different state of tune because of that added performance.

The Code Red gets a sportier suspension setup and the car now rests on Shelby/Eibach adjustable springs and 20-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zeros upfront and Nitto NY555R drag radials in the back. Compared to the GT500 the suspension setup is stiffer but provides even better control of the vehicle, not that the suspension on the GT500 was any weak. The suspension system on the code red speaks pure performance.

Brakes: With great powers come great stopping responsibility

Shelby and Baer have come together in order to form the best-performing rotors and brake pads on the code red and along with that, the code red also receives forged aluminum wheels for weight reduction. Also, the ride height on the Shelby GT500 code red can be adjusted in order to make the car track-specific.

The Code Red touch

The Code Red gets an aggressive carbon fiber kit including a complete carbon fiber hood on the front which not only enhances its looks and makes it look stand apart from regular Mustangs, but also acts as a weight reduction.

Come to the side profile and you see subtle “code red” badging on the bottom of the doors stating that this machine is about serious performance. The rear gets a special carbon fiber wing for that much-needed downforce and you also get a special type of diffuser treatment. Overall the code red looks aggressive with those red accents all around the car and true to its character in terms of exterior styling.

The already powerful upgraded engine accompanied by both hardware and mechanical changes makes it the perfect track machine which has blistering quick aggressive acceleration, pinpoint accurate handling, and whatnot.
