Let’s Take A Look Into Red Rock 4-Wheelers And Its Details

Red Rock 4-Wheelers is a car club that allows off-roading lovers to satiate their off-roading trail hunger. Usually taking place in the red rocky region of Moab, Utah, the club allows both its members as well as non-members to participate in off-roading adventures and expeditions.

Also, the club has a special event every year for Jeep owners where both customized and stock models of Jeep SUVs take part in an adventurous off-roading trail in the Moab region as well. The club has over 3,000 members associated with it while there are no limits for what the club calls voting members.

How to join Red Rock 4-Wheelers and what are the benefits of taking a membership?

Like almost all other car clubs, one needs to join the Red Rock 4-Wheeler Club as a member to avail of the extra facilities offered by the club. The club offers two types of memberships which are voting and associate members. As for voting members, the individual needs to be a resident of Grand County, San Juan County, or Green River City, all in Utah respectively. The annual fees for voting members are quite affordable at $50.

Coming to the associate members, the individuals require to be a non-resident of Utah, especially out of the places mentioned before. The club states that there are no limits to the number of voting members as such but everyone, including the associate members, needs to have a 4-wheel-drive vehicle to be a part of the club. The annual fees for the associate members are also $50 as well.

Membership Benefits For Gold Members:

  • Special black jacket with the member’s name embroidered on the front
  • A quarterly version of the club’s newsletter
  • A special edition Jeep Safari magazine published annually
  • Special invitations to annual trails organized by the club
  • Option to lead a trail for the most experienced members

What are the events held by Red Rock 4-Wheelers?

Coming to the events organized by the club, there are a few, with the Easter Jeep Safari being the most popular among them. As a norm, the club organizes a monthly meetup on the first Monday of every month.

Here is a list of all the upcoming events from the club:

  • May 20th: Boxcar/Kamikaze
  • June 17th: Backwards Bill
  • July 15th: Adobe Mesa
  • August 19: Pole Canyon
  • September 30: Monitor/Merrimac-Moonlight Run
  • October 21: Steelbender Loop

The Easter Jeep Safari is already in progress, starting from 2nd April to 9th April. During this 9-day-long event, all the participants start their journey from the club headquarters in Moab. During the journey, the participants and members are responsible for their own food and accommodations, will drive their own vehicles, pay for their own fuel expenses, and take care of their vehicle’s maintenance as well. The club helps in procuring special permits for each participant and group collectively which are required to use the trails of Utah.

The club has clear rules about the vehicles that are allowed to participate in this event though. As per the rules, all the vehicles must be modified with a roll bar or metal plate on the top along with having a street-legal license for the vehicle from the proper authorities. The club also states that all vehicles should have proper and adequate safety equipment, spare tires, a fire extinguisher, tow straps, and a jack. The club also urges all the participants to have a vehicle with a two-speed transfer case along with the maximum ground clearance possible.

The Most Common Vehicles That Take Part In The Club Events Include:

3. Jeep Wrangler

The Jeep Wrangler has been outdated for the last few years but still gives pricier off-roaders a run for their money. Right from the factory itself, the Wrangler is offered in a dizzying number of trims with two body styles.

Furthermore, the SUV allows for extensive off-roading modifications too, courtesy of its ladder frame chassis and boxy body style. A majority of the Wranglers taking part in the Red Rock 4-Wheelers’ are modified with roll bars and bigger off-roading tires. Several models also get the regular axles swapped with higher portal axles as well for even better off-roading.

The Jeep Cherokee has been around since 1974 but the Cherokee XJ was a more capable off-roader than the other models to date.
