Known for its Tyre smoking power and whining supercharged engines Dodge is one of the most sought-after muscle car brands in the world. Thanks to its long-term partnership with the Fast and Furious franchise and physics-defying quarter-mile times, Dodge cars are popular worldwide. But Hellcat menace, some of the Dodge’s most prestigious cars were graced with the iconic Bumblee logo AKA the Scat Pack symbol. Let’s check out some coolest facts about this famous marque and its legacy.
Scat Pack is a wordplay on the words Scat, which means to run, and rat pack. The badge was proudly placed on quite a few iconic models like the 340 Swinger and Charger 500 in 1969, the Demon 340 in 1971, the E-body Challenger R/T and T/A, and the Charger Daytona. Charger R/T, Coronet R/T, Dart GTS, and Coronet-based Super Bee. The logo was designed by Chrysler and was penned showcasing a bee with wheels for legs, pistons on the back, and a head covered with a helmet and Google. Sounds fun, but enthusiasts would know that this logo meant business and only adorned on the cars that could hustle through a quarter-mile in just 14 seconds or less.
The Scat Pak as it was called before changing the name to Scat Pack was only available with a Magnum engine and consisted of a Ramcharger air hood with special paint and chrome tie-down pins, raised white letter or redline tires, and an optional vinyl roof. Snazzy colors like HEMI Orange, Top Banana, Go Mango, and Plum Crazy were also offered.
Along with catchy slogans like “Run with the Pack” and “The cars with the Bumblebee stripes”, Chrysler also created the Scat Pack Club where car owners and fans with cars that carried the scat pack symbol would organize fun parties and events and discuss all their shiny new cars. The club was also loving and called “The Hive”.
The Scat Pack symbol returned in 2014 with Challenger, Charger, and Dart models. Available as the trim-only performance package, the cars featured numerous aesthetics and performance enhancements worth the badge. The engines however all remained naturally aspirated V8 HEMI blocks. With the rumors of an upcoming fully electric Charger replacement, spreading out we sincerely hope it beats its Gas powered brethren and is worthy of the iconic “Y’all drive careful now, hear?
