By now it is evident that Porsche loves to showcase its glorious experience of making some of the best sports cars in the world by setting lap records on the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

While the 911 GT2 RS is incredibly quick, Porsche did not want to limit itself and offered a Weissach package to shave even more weight from the car to make it quicker.

Eventually, all proved to be worth it when two of the 911 GT2 RS's crossed the 12.9 mile lap of Nürburgring in 6:47:25 minutes driven by Lars Kern and Nick Tandy.

The GT2 RS was equipped with Weissach Package which deletes audio and communication system thereby adding larger wing and dive planes for better track agility.

The car was driven around the circuit by Lars Kern a.k.a Mr. Nürburgring in a record time of 6:44.749 minutes. On the standard shorter lap of 12.8 miles, the car crossed the mark in 6:40:33 minutes shattering the record of the McLaren P1 LM.

The Manthey Performance Kit includes chassis, aerodynamic, and brake components specially developed for the 911 GT2 RS.

With such changes, the 911 GT2 RS managed to set a lap time of 6:43.300 minutes for road-approved cars on 12.9-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife on 14 June 2021. Driven by none other than Mr. Nurburgring, Lars Kern who has the most number of Nurburgring records attached to his name.

2. Porsche 956

Lap Time - 6:11.13 Minutes

Another record set by Porsche on the Nürburgring Nordschleife was back on May 28th, 1983 when Stefan Bellof drove the 956 race car.

He did this almost impossible feat while participating in the 1983 Nürburgring 1,000 km world championship and set a lap record of 6:11.13. While this may read like just another record, it actually is a special one.

Considering the time it was set in and the fact that it stood tall for 35 years straight. The Porsche 956 did not have any electronic aids back then and the 956 was a bare-bone manual transmission car.

1. Porsche 919 Evo

Lap Time - 5:19.55 Minutes

On June 29th, 2018, Porsche set an incredible and fastest lap ever on the Nurburgring. The German brand took the modified version of the Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid called 919 Evo. The car was developed as a prototype for Le Mans but as it turns out, the car ended up setting the fastest lap ever on the Ring.

Timo Bernhard was the one who set the lap record and managed to achieve this feat with a record lap time of 5:19.55 minutes only!

Together, the powertrain delivers an astonishing 720 hp. However, Porsche said the system is capable of developing over 1,100 horses without the restrictions.

Porsche removed the air conditioning, windscreen wipers, headlights, and other electrical devices to bring the overall weight down to 1,872 lbs.
